I want to bounce something off of everyone. We are scheduled to go to Ardmore in 2 weeks to play but after looking at the teams and the tournament, I have some concerns. It looks like the majority of the teams are AAA/Majors and everyone I speak with says that you get to play about 3 games, 1 each day and go home. I think the boys are really progressing now and I don’t want to set them back at this point. I do believe they can compete with just about anyone but I sure hate to pay the money and not have a reasonable chance to contend.
I have been talking to Clint and Jason Kelly and there is another tournament that weekend in Joplin, Missouri. I was considering putting the team in that tournament and I could lease a large enough van to put all the boys in and have a real team trip. Jason and I also have family in these areas that have never had the opportunity to see the kids play and I know they would love it. There are typically some good teams from this area and It would be pretty cool to do a road trip and see how we do. I don’t know much about the fields or teams other than that but I think it would be cool for the boys without all the pressure.
This is just a thought and I want to ask for your input now so that we can make any adjustments. We should have no problem getting a hotel at this point. There are also tournaments in Texas (McKinney Craig Ranch and Grapevine) that would also be cool.
We can just leave things alone or do something really fun for the kids. We should not have an issue financially so let me know what you think.
