I am sending you this email to inform you that Calyn Halvorson will not be a
Bear this year. He will return to the Mudcats as he has several friends on
that team. I believe his mother was responsible for getting several players
on that team prior to Calyn playing with us and they feel a strong
commitment and loyalty to that team. It is my understanding that Calyn was
really torn between the two teams but the prior commitments are really the
determining factor. The Halvorson's asked me about playing for both teams
since we will play 11year old league and the Mudcats will play 10's.
Ultimately, I did not think this would be fair to the boys on our team given
the fact that our boys would be practicing and playing together in certain
positions and a player might come in and take playing time away from one of
our regular players. One of the rules we put in place was specifically
directed at this issue.
I am in no way angry about this and I wish Calyn and the Halvorson's the
best. (Just not against the Bears!!). They are a very good family and
Calyn is a great kid and player.
I just thought you should know the real story from me before any
misinformation gets out.
